The garden, which covers some 12 hectares, is regarded as one of the most stunning in New Zealand. Originally designed by Alfred Buxton, Diana has taken the garden to a level of national significance. Sweeping lawns, ponds, wetlands, remarkable trees, roses, rhododendrons and azaleas, botanical gems and stunning design means the gardens offer a stunning backdrop and appeal to all.
The gardens provide sanctuary for a huge variety and number of birds and most importantly habitat for some of New Zealand’s rarest native freshwater fish species.
